Cheryl Jenkins (CJ) PhD - Somatic Therapist and Bodyworker

Our bodies — our soma — are extraordinary resources. When we learn to sense, feel, and connect with them, they can guide us toward healing, resilience, and vitality.

CJ has been exploring and practising a wide range of bodywork and somatic therapies since 2000. She offers Pesso-Boyden Psychotherapy, Shiatsu, Yoga and Thomas Hanna Somatics at Life Fit, Cornwall.

Fascinated by what it means to be human, CJ’s work is grounded in curiosity about how we can live fully, freely, and with joy. Her focus is on understanding what limits us — often shaped by trauma or life’s challenges — and supporting the body, mind, and nervous system to find balance again.

Through breath, movement, and awareness of sensation, image, and memory, CJ gently guides you to reconnect with your body’s innate intelligence. In this space, you’ll learn to regulate your nervous system, rediscover ease, and cultivate a sense of wellbeing that supports you through life’s ups and downs.

CJ is committed to offering her best to every client and receives regular supervision from her somatic therapy and bodywork mentors. She is a member of the National Council of Integrative Psychotherapists and the British Complementary Medicine Association.

Which session might be right for you?

Somatic Therapy including Pesso-Boyden Psychotherapy

Somatic Therapy offers the space to slow down, reconnect, and explore how you experience life through your body. CJ draws on a blend of somatic approaches to help you connect with sensations, movement, and emotion — your felt sense.

Through this connection, awareness deepens, insight emerges, and meaningful change can unfold. Somatic therapy supports emotional re-education, integration of past and present experiences, and the creation of new possibilities — helping you reconnect with your own power and agency.

Shiatsu

Shiatsu is a form of Japanese bodywork rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Taoist philosophy, and Western psychology.

During a session (fully clothed), you’ll experience a blend of gentle stretches, supported movements, and varying pressures that bring balance and ease to body, mind, and spirit. Shiatsu is not something done to you, but with you — a responsive, listening process that honours your body’s wisdom.

When met with the right touch and presence, the body begins to soften. Breath deepens, calm returns, and transformation can begin.

Thomas Hanna Somatics

Thomas Hanna Somatics is a movement-based method of neuromuscular re-education. Through guided awareness and slow, mindful movements, you’ll learn to sense, engage, and release your muscles to restore natural balance and freedom.

This work can help relieve tension, pain, and postural issues — particularly in the lower back, neck, hips, jaw, pelvis, or knees — and support greater physical and emotional resilience. Somatics helps you rediscover comfort in your body, freedom in your breath, and calm in your mind.
